People without South African IDs can now apply for R350 grant

Like all children social grant caregivers, clients without the 13-digit barcoded South African identification numbers, are eligible to apply for the Special COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant.  When applying, they will use a SASSA system-generated number starting with 7777 as their identification number.

The South African Social Security Agency has on its grant system, beneficiaries who do not have South African identification but are receiving social grants.  Some of these beneficiaries draw child grants like the child support, care dependency and foster child grants and not necessarily adult grants for themselves.  To enable them to apply for social grants, SASSA allocated persons without the 13-digit bar-coded ID numbers, a system-generated quad seven identification number to assist them to access social assistance.

To this end, SASSA calls on Quad-7 identity number holders receiving children's grants and are also caregivers, to apply for the special SRD R350 grant using their system number starting with 7777 number allocated by the Agency when they were first approved for a social grant.

Those caregivers who do not have their SASSA system-generated identification starting with 7777, are advised to call the SASSA Toll-free number on 0800 60 10 11 to request the said number.  Once they have their number, they will be able to apply for the R350 grant, using the SASSA website on https://srd.sassa.gov.za

Once they have secured their numbers and have successfully applied for the SRD grant, the R350 will be paid into their child grant on their grant payment card.  They can then draw their money at the post office or through the Postbank, alternatively and more convenient, they can use the supermarkets.

For more information relating to persons without a 13-digit barcoded ID can call the SASSA toll-free number at 0800 60 10 11.
