SASSA Northern Cape Wins Three at Service Delivery Awards

SASSA CEO Ms Virginia Petersen has commended the Northern Cape SASSA staff for their hard work, sacrifices and loyalty.

This follows the Region’s excellent performance at the 10th Annual Batho Pele Premier’s Service Excellence Awards in Kimberley recently. The Region scooped three awards at the Ceremony which was held at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre.

“This is an affirmation of all the hard work and sacrifices made by the staff in the Region. The other Regions have big shoes to fill to catch up to the Northern Cape. Thank you for putting SASSA on the service delivery map,” said Ms Petersen.

The CEO challenged other SASSA Regions to work harder to emulate the Northern Cape’s feat. The awards were in recognition of SASSA’s efficiently implemented re-registration project and the Nelson Mandela door to door campaign in search of the missing 2 Million children on the social grants system. The two projects each scored a bronze award.


The CEO had joined the Regional Executive Manager, Ms Koleka Lubelwana and other SASSA staff at the ceremony received the awards.

The SASSA contingent could barely contain their excitement as the SASSA Value Culture Project better known as “SASSA Fridays” scooped the final silver award bringing total tally to three awards.

There was also a moment of individual brilliance when Mr Quientin von Berg from Customer Care received a Batho Pele Hero Certificate for his commitment to the Batho Pele Principles.

A proud and happy looking Ms Lubelwana also thanked her staff members and challenged them to “go more than the extra mile to bring gold to where it belongs”.

“It was indeed heartwarming for the CEO and myself to have received these awards on behalf of all of you. It is because of all our hard work and dedication that we scooped these awards and can brag to the rest of SASSA. Once more, thank you for making me proud,” added the REM.
